From Campania to the world-via Modena:De Nigris Balsamic Vinegar IGP

From Campania to the world-via Modena:De Nigris Balsamic Vinegar IGP

But I thought Balsamic Vinegar was from Modena? And you’d be right! However, De Nigris was founded in Naples in 1889 by Armando De Nigris.

De Nigris still has a presence in Campania and because of that Campania Food & Wine has decided to add this wonderful product to our range.

Surrounded by rural farmlands his whole life, Armando’s passion for the earth’s bounty made way to the production of vinegar on a commercial basis. His success in making and supplying red and white wine vinegars was further expanded when his son, Marcello, joined him and the company began to make balsamic vinegar and sell it to retail shops all over the world.

But what’s Balsamic Vinegar?

Balsamic Vinegar is made of two ingredients, wine vinegar and grape must, which mature in wooden barrels. The European Community recognized, in July 2009, the protected geographical indication (PGI) for balsamic vinegar of Modena.

The Balsamic Vinegar we have chosen is ideal for cold dishes such as condiments to salads, grilled vegetables, and as a marinade. See our recipe for Balsamic Vinegar Braised Chicken in our ‘Recipe’ section. Buon appetito!
