Description
The Apicella’s vineyard is located in the municipality of Tramonti in the heart of Amalfi Coast, set in the protected natural area of Monti Lattari.
The vines are grown in a traditional espalier style in 7 hectares of terraces, located at an altitude between 300 & 500 meters above sea level, south facing.
The land consists of tufa, limestone & schist which attracts plenty of direct sunshine.
Vinification: Giuseppe Apicella Costa Amalfi Tramonti Bianco grapes are carefully harvested manually, with delicate de-stemming. The grapes macerate with skin contact, and then pressed. The must is left to macerate in a cold system before selected yeasts are added, at low temperature, ensuring that all flavours remain intact. Fermentation lasts between 20-30 days, and a further 5 months in fine lees, before bottling.
Grape variety: Falanghina 60%, Biancolella 40%
Tasting Notes: On the eye it is straw yellow in complexion, on the nose, tropical fruits, honey & white flowers. Mouthfeel is fresh with a degree of acidity with an intense & long finish.
Alcohol: 13%
Serving Temperature: 10-12C
Ideal With: Shellfish or first course light dishes such as insalata caprese, or calamari
