Description
Pietracupa was founded in 1990 and is situated in Montefredane, near Avellino, a mountainous terrain where elevation is key in producing wines with great character. Here the young and talented Sabino “Sammy Bruno” Loffredo quickly gained a reputation within Italy and abroad, for some of the best Greco and Fiano wines around.
Pietracupa wines represent his style and his idea of the wine world. He is one of the most successful examples of how a small producer can produce great wines that also have wonderful ageing potential and become magnificently complex in the bottle.
Grape: Fiano
Fiano Di Avellino by Pietracupa has a sparkling straw yellow appearance with green highlights. In contrast to the Greco, the Fiano offers a more robust and expansive nose with refined fragrances of jasmine, golden delicious apples, candied violets and a strong mineral expression. In the mouth, a substantial and aristocratic palate with marked acidity; a fragrant and flavourful white wine, with aromas ranging from citrus to mango through fascinating nuances of honey and of citrus that echoes throughout the fine, long and slightly almond finish.
It feels silky and refreshing in the mouth with optimum balance and length.
Food pairing: The best way to pair Fiano Di Avellino by Pietracupa is with seafood pastas such as linguini and clams. Try it also with a refreshing Caprese salad.
