Description
The Apicella’s vineyard is located in the municipality of Tramonti in the heart of Amalfi Coast, set in the protected natural area of Monti Lattari.
The vines are un-grafted pre-phylloxera grown in a pergola style in 7 hectares of terraces, located at an altitude between 300 & 600 meters above sea level.
The land consists of tufa, limestone & schist which attracts plenty of direct sunshine.
Vinification: Giuseppe Apicella Costa Amalfi Tramonti Rosso grapes are carefully harvested manually, with delicate de-stemming. Once de-stemmed, selected yeasts are added to the must and ferments between 15-20 days at a controlled temperature.
It is left for about 4 months to mature in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. After 4 months maturity, a further 20 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Grape variety: Tintore Of Tramonti 40%, Aglianico 40%, Piedirosso 20%
Tasting Notes: Intense red with violet hues, on the nose, fine aromas of red fruit, bramble & spice. Balanced acidity & fine tannins making this an excellent wine to drink now or to lay down for up to 10 years.
Alcohol: 13%
Serving temperature: 16-18C
