Description
Feudi di San Gregorio Biancolella is a white grape variety from Campania. This cultivation originally came from Greece, from the island of Euboea, and migrated with the Greeks of the 7th and 6th century B.C. This vine was introduced in Ischia many centuries ago. First records mentioning this cultivation date back to the mid-19th century, when in 1868 Guyot listed Biancolella among the most common grape varieties growing on the Island of Ischia. Ischia, with its scarcely fertile soil and volcanic stratifications, offers the ideal soil for Biancolella. This grape variety is also known as Jancolella or Janculella.
