Description

Vigni Chigi was born from the desire to strengthen the bond with the past, rooted in ancient lineages and the ancestral call of the land.
A passion that, over the years, has transformed a family’s dream into a growing reality, with the aim of honouring a product and a land, rich in history and gastronomic culture.

As with all stories driven at their core by an overwhelming passion, the story of the Chillemi Gianfrotta family tells of a dream that led them to strengthen their bond with their roots—family, culture, and land. Backed by a noble lineage officially recognized by King Charles of Bourbon in 1751, the family’s primary goal from the very beginning of the enterprise has been to enhance and honour an extraordinarily rich heritage.

From the outset, it was clear that their work would focus on the most historic and distinctive products of their land, preserving the ancient grape varieties so cherished by the Neapolitan royal court. This led to the exclusive choice of the native varieties Casavecchia and Pallagrello, answering the desire to rediscover a territory of undeniable quality and character.

A living historical memory that perpetuates the ancient bond with the Bourbon royal family, also reflected in the wine labels, which depict the hunting dogs featured in some of the most important paintings displayed at the Royal Palace of Caserta.

Low‑yielding and highly delicate, Pallagrello Nero is one of the native grape varieties that has contributed most significantly to the oenological revival of the region. It is a grape indigenous to the Caserta area, and one of the few varieties—both white and red—to produce small clusters with perfectly spherical berries. This characteristic is reflected in its local dialect name, “U Pallarel”, from which Pallagrello derives, meaning “little ball.”

100% Pallagrello Nero from Pontelatone (Caserta), grown on clay‑rich soils at 120m above sea level. Hand‑harvested in October and vinified in stainless steel with 10–12 days of maceration. Aged for 12 months in oak and steel, followed by 6 months in bottle.

Tasting notes: Bright ruby red. Aromas of cherry, ripe citrus, spices, and licorice. Full‑bodied, well‑structured, with an elegant spicy finish.

Alcohol: 12% vol.
Bottle: 750 ml
Serving temperature: 18–20 °C

Ideal with: Structured pasta dishes, red meats, game, semi‑aged cheeses, cured meats.

Spezzatino con i piselli-Beef stew with peas & rosemary
