Limoncello involves the maceration of only the finest lemons in the world the I.G.P. Amalfi Lemons, in fine neutral spirit, with water and sugar.
Amalfi Lemon I.G.P. also known as the queen of lemons are the speciality produce of Italy’s Amalfi coast, where the wonderfully large and fragrant fruit grows up in the mountains as well as on the cliff-side terraces. The superior aromatic potency of the lemon rinds is what makes Costa D’Oro Limoncello unrivalled.
The superior aroma is thanks to a combination of the ever present intense sunshine, a light Mediterranean breeze and rich volcanic soil, giving the groves the best care and attention they need to thrive, and produce the finest lemons in the world.
Scientifically known as the Sfusato Amalfitano, the Amalfi lemons are protected by the Consorzio Di Tutela Del Limone Costa D’Amalfi I.G.P. (The Consortium for the Protection of the Amalfi Coast Lemon) and any product which claims to be made with such and aromatic and unique fruit must bear the I.G.P. logo.
The harvest takes place between February and October and each lemon is always picked by hand with the upmost care. The geographic area of production include the beautiful towns of Amalfi, Positano, Atrani, Minori, Maiori, Cetara, Conca Dei Marini, Ravello, Tramonti, Praino, Scala, Furore and Vietri Sul Mare.
