Description

Costa delle Parracine Biancolella is the latest venture from the Feudi di San Gregorio Group, launched in partnership with Tenuta C’est la Vie, owner of a historic wine estate on the island of Ischia.
Ischia boasts a rich winemaking tradition dating back to the early Middle Ages, evidenced by 9th-century amphorae and a 1036 AD document referencing widespread viticulture.
A defining feature of the island is its mosaic of Parracine—dry-stone walls built over centuries by master stonemasons using green tuff from Mount Epomeo.
These walls not only mark the land but also shelter the island’s terraced vineyards, preserving their beauty and integrity.
Located in the Forio area, the estate includes a cellar carved from green tuff in 1878, still in use today.
The wine label features the island’s silhouette and a leaping rabbit—Liparina in local dialect—a symbol deeply rooted in Ischian culture.
Costa delle Parracine is Ischia in a glass, showcasing Costa delle Parracine Biancolella.

Of Corsican origin (where it is called Petite Blanche), Biancolella is a white grape variety native to the coast and islands of Campania, introduced by the Greeks in ancient times. Today, it is cultivated on about 150 hectares in Italy, almost exclusively in Campania.

This region is renowned for its unique varietals, including the sought-after Costa delle Parracine Biancolella, which captivates wine lovers around the world.

The Biancolella grapes are light green in colour and have a thin skin. Costa delle Parracine Biancolella in purity is an elegant, well-structured wine that expresses the full potential of this grape variety.

Biancolella reveals its uniqueness on Ischia thanks to the island’s volcanic soils, particularly in the high-hill areas such as Costa delle Parracine.

The label recalls the description of the Parracine that Giovan Giuseppe Cervera wrote in his Ischia sconosciuta (Unknown Ischia), published in 1959.

Grapes: Biancolella
Denomination: DOC Biancolella Ischia
Commune: Forio
Surface area: 2.5 ha

Bottles produced: 12,000 (0.75 L)

Alcohol: 12.5%

Tasting notes: An elegant and finely structured Biancolella, offering vibrant aromatic notes of citrus blossom and white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral-driven, with a subtle salinity that reflects its coastal terroir. A delicate hint of almond lingers on the finish, adding depth and finesse to this expressive island wine.

Ideal with: The wine’s freshness and subtle aromatic character make it an ideal companion to seafood dishes, such as grilled fish, shellfish, and seafood risotto. It pairs beautifully with Mediterranean-style preparations, gently seasoned with lemon, herbs, or olive oil, allowing the wine’s mineral edge and balanced acidity to shine.
Its versatility also extends to fresh cheeses like mozzarella and burrata, as well as antipasti platters and vegetable-based dishes, where it provides a harmonious and refreshing counterpoint to delicate flavours.
